In order to show the accuracy of the Drotek F9P range of GNSS devices, Drotek performed some tests with the DP0601 (base & rover) and a DA910 antenna (base). The GPS and antenna have been attached onto a platform equipped with an idler to be able to freely and smoothly move around while recording the rover’s location.
Despite the RTK base and the rover were distanced by 25 km, it’s still possible to achieve a rover centimetric level accuracy.
As a result the whole system allows us to follow lines or any ground patterns. Here, we decided to follow the white stripes on a parking lot and a roundabout.
For comparison purposes, the path was then displayed in Google Earth, as shown in the pictures below.
The shift between the lines is only due to the projection and scale on Google Earth, the path is perfectly reproduced.
The SNR (Signal Noise Ratio) was around 35-38dB, while we usually get 50dB, but in our case, we’re really close to the ground and that explains the difference. We can see the 4 satellites on the graph: GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO & BEIDOU.
The GPS settles down in a few seconds (less than 30s), and still providing a centimeter level precision with DP0601 RTK ZED F9P GNSS.
In conclusion, this test is a success given the results accuracy of the GPS and the baseline length.
